The 305 is dead.........any suggestions on a new engine?

Well it happened my 305 died today, my stepdad found the source of all the problems it was having. I've got a cracked block, so i'm hunting for a new engine. I'd like to do a 350 but i'm on a budget. Do you guys know of any good reman-engine companies? And should I stick with FI or Carb it? I"m leaning towards carbing it since it's not my Daily Driver anymore but i'm not sure how difficult it would be to drop a carbed engine into it. This is a curse and a blessing. I was going to pull the motor anyway but I didn't plan on doing it well right now lol. Thanks for your help guys.....

tried and true....ZZ4 crate motor

or maybe a step down and get the HO vortec engine...

flip through Jegs or Summit, there are a few companies offering complete...carb to oil pan...engines ranging from 300-400hp

350 carb swap would be easy. How to do it has been described 1000 times here and other places, so do a search to find out how. Fuel injection really is a better fuel system, but it is definately more expensive to deal with.

GMGoodwrench
Jasper

But, on a budget, I'd look into a late TRUCK 350, some were 255hp & up, and TBI, perfect match, and I'd stay TBI for a daily, less start up issues. You can always upgrade your intake, T/B, cam ,headers etc later.
Holley intake
Holley 670 TBI
etc etc..
