Best head/cam setup

What should I run head wise for my 1985 camaro. It's running a 1979 350 4-bolt main with an elderbrock intake and carb (4-barrel) and it has a very mild elderbrock cam and stock heads. What heads/cam should I be looking at to get to my 400 hp goals naturaly aspirated?

The best heads out there are either the Trick Flow 195's or the AFR Eliminator 195's.

For camshaft, sorry I dont know flat-tappets, only rollers. The XFI268HR-113 is one of the best.

You can't go wrong with the Trickflows or the AFR's. That said, I love my Trickflows!

$3000 will go a long way. For that budget go with a set of AFRs new 195 Eliminators milled for better compression, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake fed with a 750cfm carb, and if staying flat tappet go with a Comp Xtreme Energy 274 or 284. Your budget should allow for a hyd. roller retrofit, which I would highly recommend for all sorts of reasons.

SDPC2000.com has Vortec top end kits ready to go for .575" lift cams. Heads/cam/intake/carb for a good price. It will be close to 400hp with accessory drives, etc on the engine. retrofit lifters, goodpushrods, etc will add to that cost..goodluck!

If you want a lot more than 400hp, go with AFR 195 Eliminators, super victor intake, a lot more roller cam, etc...a stock bottom end MIGHT live at a high rpm making big HP but t also MIGHT NOT live...
