Descreened MAF today

I went ahead and descreened the inlet and outlet side.

My computer was programmed for this mod anyway. My car seems to idle smoother now.

I'm sure it's going to have a little better throttle response too.

Tags are dead cause I can't pass emissions so I figured I'd do some stuff to it today. I'm going to try to install my pillar pod and gauges tomorrow.

Its a Stewart Warner tach http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

air/fuel http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

trans temp http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Is this going to be hard? I have only installed a tach before. Any stories or advice from anyone installing any of these on a 3rd gen TPI car?

yeah..your gonna have to cut holes in your a-pillar. Remove your door sill and also the drivers kick panel and run the wires down thru there under the kick panel along the door and also you can get to your fuses fromt there too. Once you remove the kick panel you will see a grommet hole its under like a peice of rubber mat and if you run the wires thru there they will come out in the drivers fender wheel well under the fender panel. and from there run the wires up and into the engine bay. That how I did it.

Other may have some better ideas but I figured I would give you one option to look into

have fun!....good luck!..your gonna need it!...

Sounds fun. I appreciate the advice. I like to take my time and hide wires as professionally as possible. Sounds like you did that.

we just started requiring emissions about 5 years ago. I need to lower my HC ppm and my CO%.

HC is allowed a reading of 48, but I'm at 90

CO% is allowed ...................0.28, but .........2.82

There is a cocktail of alcohol and other stuff online to pass. I might try it if it won't hurt my engine. Also there is some stuff in a bottle at AUTOZONE that says it will make your car pass. But it claims to clean out your motor from carbon and other stuff to run cleaner. My engine is brand new and probably won't get any good results with that option.

Do you have a cat on the car? If you do I would think that emissions would be a cake walk. In MO my car passes NO sweat. It even blew cleaner than my sisters 96 caviler, by quite a lot. If you have a cat I would think that you need to dig deeper. Your set up is not that radical to have issuses with emissions, especially with a tune for your combo.

Yea I have a Dynomax high flow cat. I just put it on the car 70 miles ago. I'm failing super bad. I have all the smog equipment. Even the headers are emission legal. All sensors are hooked up still.

I'm going to DMV on Monday morning and try to claim my car is garaged at a place further south, one county, where no emissions is required. I can, worst case, even rent a storage unit and claim I keep it there. That way I can get tags renewed and get it in the shop to get this tuned correctly. It must be running too rich.

I totally agree. I'm only at most 400hp at the crank. Not a radical build at all. Engine only rates 360hp from Scoggin web site.
