i've always been a big fan of black cars, but that sunset orange metalic color that they put on 4th gens l;ooks bad ***

just read a magazine today with a few new paints on a couple high end cars. candy tangerine and another in yellow. outstanding....i'd really look into going pearl or some sort of metallic wether it be candy or otherwise. isn't much more in price, well metallic or pearl that is.

I've always been a fan of the "IROC red". That color with black heritage stripes and its to die for IMO . . .

 

A friend of mine has a bright orange '87 IROC-Z and he had the strips on the outside of the T-tops and the center bar between the tops painted orange to. I love the look of that car. I also had a friend paint his '89 RS canary yellow with two 12" stripes painted over the whole car (like the Vipers had). It looks pretty good. I prefer really bright colors on thirdgens. If I ever finsh my '83 I am going to paint it the same blue as a '96 GS Corvette with two white stripes over the hood and trunk deck.

I don't like red, white, or black (then again my '90 IROC-Z is black, go figure). Its your car though, so just paint it the color you like.

i'm really lookin into that burnt orange color, i really think that'll look good....alll i gotta do is convince my dad, he hates that color for some reason, but hey its my car...do oyu have pics of that orange camaro with the painted ttops strips and stuff, it sounds really sweet....if you or anybody else could get pics of a 3rd gen with that paint, it would be greatly appreciated...thanks guys..

 

One of the better suggestions I got was this:

"Look for a color you really like on a car that's already painted."

That way you get a "real life" idea of how it'll look, rather than a "best guess" from a picture. (Your computer monitor won't always give you an accurate rendering of a picture...)

yea i wish i could find a place where there was a bunch of 3rd gens just sittin there all in different colors, but the only place to see that is either a car show or the computer...and i only made it to one car show this year due to working weekends, and my only other option is the computer...i think you can get a good idea from a computer screen....alot of 3rd gens in my town are either stock faded paint or primer, so its really hard to make a decision....i was thinking yellow, then i found a decent yellow one, and it didn't really make me go WOW, so i was thinkning orange...you really gotta see some pics of a car in the color scheme you wanna go so you can get at least a half azz idea....but yea a computer screen doesn't give you the whole WOW effect, but it gives you a pretty good idea...i looked through every 3rd gen on cardomain, and there isn't to many on there with custom paints, i'll just have to keep looking, i gotta a couple of months yet...any pics of cool paint jobs on 3rd gens would be greatly appreciated..thanks

OMG those were awesome....i really appreciate the time you took kandied to put all those together...there are a lot of idea's in there, i added it to my favorites so i'll have it for a while...I really like that hugger orange camaro that sahlomonic posted, that looks real slick..i might go something with orange and black because i saw a pic of a twotone one that kandied posted, that looked slick...i even found one that had the rims that i want to get (KMC stealth's)..thanks alot buddy, and if you got anymore cool ones, please post..thanks again..

 

I always thought that silver was a nice color on the 3rd gens.
