bellhousing

replaced my 305 with 350. my 305 flywheel wouldnt fit my crank. i found in my attic a flywheel that would fit, but only to an 11" clutch. so upgraded to an 11" clutch, keeping stock T5. however, the Stock bellhousing too small. i plan on going to bone yards to find the bell housing that i need. what other GM vehicles came with a bellhousing which will fit my T5 and be used on a hydraulic 11" clutch?

To my belief no vehicles will have a bellhouseing that will fit, due to the sideways angle the transmission sits in third gen manual cars.

I did a 305 to 350 swap and everything went in fine on my bellhousing and flywheel(from the 305). I'm still using my 10.5 inch centerforce dual friction clutch.

Give some more info about your car and maybe we can help a little more.

why wouldn't your flywheel fit? The 305 and 350 use the same flywheel and the mounting pad on the crank is identical.

I'm using a stock thirdgen flywheel on my IROC, which has a 355. As long as you get a 1 piece or 2 piece flywheel to match whatever style your crank is, it'll bolt right up.

The end of my crank (1970's) has a shaft of about 2.5" which will require that the mounting hole on the flywheel to be about 2.5". The stock 305 flywheel (1991) had a smaller hole.
Doesnt matter. Im installing a TH400.

That's because the block you're using has a 2 piece rear main seal and the stock one had a 1 piece. All you need is the flywheel from a pre-86 T5 car. They aren't hard to find and they aren't expensive. Don't give up on the swap just because you can't find a flywheel! If you give up that easy, modding a thirdgen is NOT the hobby for you.

listen, ive hit snag after snag trying to mod a 350 in my car, despite being to be told that im wasting my time with that stock T5. i do not have the money to put in a richmond. I do not want to waste my time and $ finding parts, to make my 350 bolt up to my T5 and have it break in a few months. i have a Th400 sitting in my garage which has been collecting dust because i wanted to mod my thirdgen and run a 350 with my T5. i can sell my working T5 now for $250, use the TH400 until i have the $ to buy a richmond then install it. instead of breaking the T5 at the strip this summer and waiting months on end for my wife to allow me to spend $1500 on a Richmond...were's the fun in that? modding muscle cars and thirdgen's is a hobby ive enjoyed for the last 7 yrs and i try to use common sense in my hobby.
