You will need a new carrier if you want to replace your (9-Bolt)gears. And 10-Bolt gears like you have mentioned 3:23 & 3:42
will not work.

People seem to forget or do not know that you CAN NOT mix 9-Bolt and 10-Bolt parts. They are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!!!!!

You're going to be limited to either a 3.27 gear like my car has, or a 3.70 for the M-5 305 TPI 9-bolts.

9-bolt stuff is pretty scarce and pricier than the 10 bolt parts, although the 9-bolt is a lot stronger of the two.

The 3.70 ratio was only used in the '85 305/T5 cars, 86-89 got a 3.45 ratio. And as far as new gears go....you can buy a complete used 3.27/3.45 posi disc rear for about the same price easy enough. 3.45 rears are hard to find though.....3.70's are even harder. I have the only factory 3.70 9-bolt rear I've ever seen.

I have new 9 bolt gear sets to 4.10 ratios.
I have some used to 3.45 too. I am working on some
used ratios of 3.73 and 4.10 that should be ~ 1/2 the
cost of new gear sets. I hope to have the ring gear spacer
stuff worked out soon too. Just trying to finish the rear support cover first.

All the info is at www.9bolt.com or www.diffsolutions.com

I will be updating the availability and price pages these week.
