alternator question need some quick replys

alternator question need some quick replys

will a alternator from a 87 iroc tpi bolt up to a 89 5.0 tbi ??and what years are interchangeble ...i think some on ebay is tryin to pull a fast one on me

An alternator from any V8 3rd gen with a serpentine belt system will fit. I'm not sure when they started using the serp., but I believe it was '86 or so. The V6 alternator might fit too but I don't know.

Actually i think they started the serpantine belt in 88 on the tpi cars. I think if i remember right my friends moms 87 5.7l tpi didnt have serp. Call GM and find out for sure. That way you dont get screwed. Good luck

yeah you should be fine i have had to put my buddy alternator from his trans am to my iroc before and we never had any problems!

You are right they started in 88 but call any Shucks Auto supply & they will tell ya that 87 had Serpantine belt lol My car has 3 belts thank you very much lol

But dont call GM if they are gonna tell ya they started in 87.
