Air cleaner hood clearance

As the first mod for my RS goes I want to put on an Edelbrock open element air cleaner. My question is: do I have to get a drop base air cleaner for hood clearance or a non dropbase air cleaner to clear all the shazz on the manifold. I already put one on my truck but hood clearance is no problem there. And plus i dont want to have to make 2 trips to pep boys if i dont have too. Thanks.

I had to run a 1" drop base to get mine to clear the hood. That's with a Performer RPM (old style non-air-gap) Edelbrock 750cfm and 14x3 K&N.

Measure the height of your old one you maybe able to go many differant ways,a 4" filter with a drop base vs 3" filter nondrop they could be the same or close,so measure and see what works.
