$1200 to spend
$1200 to spend
So ill probably get about $1200 to spend on my car from taxes. $200 is going to goto the cheap-o paint job...ANYTHING is better than what i have. $150 to get my front core support fixed. so $850 left....i have an 87 Z28 LG4..edelbrock RPM intake, holley 4160, headers, cutout. 700R4 with 150k miles on it and just getting older. open drum rear. I would like to hear what you all would do with $850 to spend.
id get it oiled/undercoated
all fluids changed
tuneup
go salvage yard hopping for rear discs if you dont have them
maybe a cam if you can swap yourself
ebay some sfc's
window tint
and an orbital buffer if you dont have one for that new paint!

good thinking getting it fully maintained with some of the money, didnt think of that.
Pro.....SFC's should be the first mod made to these cars. Basically they just tie the front and rear subframes together, simulating a full frame and making the car MUCH stronger. You'll get less chassis flex, better weight and power transfer, fewer creaks and squeeks, and the added bonus of a REALLY good jacking point under each side of the car. Prices vary depending on which style you get, but they generally run about $150-200. They have to be welded in with the suspension loaded so if you can't weld you can expect to spend another $75-100 or so on that.
There are bolt-in versions, but most everyone will tell you to get them welded. Some guys do both...buy the bolt-ins, install them in the driveway, then drive them to a shop to be welded up. You don't have to pay the welder to fit them up that way, but it seems like too much trouble to me.
