92 idle problems

When i go to start up my camaro (1992 camaro rs, 305/350? fuel injected) for the first 5 seconds of starting it chugs really bad, acts almost like its gonna cut out but then the idling speeds up and sounds normal. This wasnt a problem until my car died on the way home making the same sluggish sound. Checked vacuum lines and fuel lines which all seemed fine. The smell of the exhaust is terrible and really strong, it'll get in the car if its just sitting in there and makes me gag, smells really rich to me. I looked at the fuel injectors too and they seemed to be spittin out more gas than normal and man are these injectors loud. Problem didnt start until 2 days ago when my dad was working on fixing the heater core. Another detail i spose worth mentioning is that this only occurs during idle.

The stock engine in a 92 Camaro RS is a 305 TBI, also known as the L03.

My best guess would be the fuel injectors are dead, so they're dribbling extra gas instead of spraying it like normal.

When you rev the engine up and drive it, the engine is able to compensate for the extra fuel, but at idle, its getting more gas than it needs and cannot adjust.

I'd definitely check that all sensors are connected, same for all vacuum hoses. I'd also check the ground straps on the back of the passenger head.
Look for frayed wires or broken insulation shorting out.
Make sure the distributor hasn't turned (could be a loose hold-down bolt).

A rich running condition can be caused by a multitude of factors. Unless you connect a laptop to the ECM to see its readings, we won't know for sure but you can at least check all the basics such as wires and sensors, as mentioned above.
