Question 9 bolt

I have a 9 bolt and today i am gong to change the oil. Is it ok to seal it with rtv blue will it seal thanx Shane

Should be fine. I personally prefer black because you can't see it as easily but that's just me. In a 3rd gen you really can't see it anyway.

Just make sure to use a light coat. If you over do it and a glob squeezes into the housing, it could end up between ring and pinion. Kaboom would come next.

does autozone not carry a gasket for the 9 bolt?

I can't even get a 9-bolt gasket from the local Chevy dealer. They say they've got one and they're gonna send it to me (I work at a shop,) but it always turns out to be a 10-bolt gasket. It's happened 3 or 4 times.

Paper/rubber gaskets don't seal as well as silicone anyway. If you could find a cork gasket that would be the best but good luck.....
