I have a 91 Caprice 5.0 TBI with a 700r4 that is slipping a lot. I want to swap it out with another 700r4. Will any 700r4 fit into this car? Are there certain years that will only be compatible with my car?

In 1987 GM upgrade the 700R4 with new internal parts, so for your 1991 car you would want one from 1988 to 1993. I believe those years would be interchangeable with yours.

The V-6 700r4's are not compatible with the V-8 variants. The V-6's bellhousing is set up for a 60* V-6 and the V-8's are 90*. Other than that I do believe all of the internal componants are the same.
