Does anyone know if a stock T56 6 speed flywheel can be used with a T5 5 speed clutch and trans.
Reason: I need a neutral balanced flywheel for an LT1/5speed combo. Any ideas?

No, the T5 and T56 flywheels and clutches are different. You can use a T5 behind an LT1 but its not recommended. Just use any 86-92 T5 flywheel on the LT1.

86-92 T5 flywheels are neutral balanced. Do you know
if the 86-92 motors are internally or externally balanced?

Internal...all SBC engines are internally balanced except the 400 (and possibly the LS1, I don't know for sure because I've never torn one apart.) Just use a T-5 flywheel for a late model (one-piece rear main seal) block. Don't expect the tranny to last long though.....
