4th gen to 3rd gen radio swap

Hey guys, I did a search but couldnt come up with much. A 4th Gen Delco Radio will fit in a 3rd Gen right? Im pretty sure it will. Right now I have no radio or harness plugs in my 84. In the future I plan to get a CD deck but right now I just want to get something cheap. I have come across some radios and found one from a 97 camaro. It is a Delco radio CD player and has theftlock.

What modifications am I going to have to do to get this to work. Have any of you guys done this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I found some factory radio wiring harnesses on ebay.

One is for 88-up GM models
88-up

One is for 78-90 GM models
78-90

I now have a new question. If I get a 4th gen radio I will probably get the harness for 88-up models. Will I have all the wires to match up to this harness or will I be missing some or something like that? sorry if these questions are dumb, I have little car audio experience. Thanks again.

I thought about the same thing when the factory radio died in my camaro. But after pricing it out from junkyards and the thought of dealing with the delco theft lock and the fact that they don't match the factory interior on third gens I found it much cheaper and easier and better looking to go to walmart and buy a descent pioneer am/fm/cd with detachable face plate for like a $100 the adapter to make it fit in the consol was like another $15
