Question 4:10 gears

My brother in law just took his 4:10`s out of his nova and asked me if I want them cheap like $100 but I`m not sure they`ll fit there out of a 69 camaro 10 bolt 8.5" ring gear and pinion gear will they fit in my 85 camaro Z28`s 10 bolt the gears in my car are 3:23 also if they`ll fit will my posi work with those gears?

69 10 bolts had 8.2 diffs, but it doesn't matter; neither 8.2 or 8.5 will fit your 7.5 diff.

Nope, angel's right, won't fit. The 7.5, 8.5, etc. refers to the diameter of the ring gear. Although $100 is a great price for gears, he ought to stick them in the paper, for that price they'd go quick. For about $200 you can order a new set from Summit of whatever ratio you want. If you drive yours on the street, I wouldn't go much, if any higher than 3.73, in fact I have an El Camino that I'm sticking a set of those in here shortly. 4.10s are a little steep, even if you have a pretty bad motor, for the 1/4-mile. I have a friend who has an '82 Camaro with a 450-horse 388 and 4.10 gears, and it practically tops out in the 1/8-mile.

w/a t5 it would be ok. depends if daily driver and need to drive alot of freeway or not. for me, my car goes throught he traps at 6K exactly in 3 gear w/my 3:73's so I can put my 4:10s in cause my eng. will go to 7K no problem. I dont drive thefreeway that much anyways (w/this car). but, if you have stock induction (tpi or tbi) I wouldnt recomend it cause your eng. isnt making power that high in the rpms anyways. so in that case, it wouldslow you down.
