i was thinking about going with gms crate 385 fast burn was wonderin if anybody has tried it in a 3rd gen. also was wondering if anybody can confirm gms specs 385 hp. and 385 torque. also is torque or hp more important

There was an old saying:

"Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins motor races".

I prefer torque. This is why I find a TPI 350 to be more fun to drive (with a 6 speed) on the street than my 2002 Z-28. I make much more HP, but less low end grunt. The low end torque is what makes it fun to roll away from stop lights at 1/2 throttle with the tires just starting to spin.....

I'll second that. Torque is the fun factor by far and it is what cuts those beautiful 1.8-1.6 second 60ft times at the 1/4. Horsepower is used mostly to brag and sell cars. Kinda funny though, cuz my crappy little LO3 feels faster than say a brand new Grand Am with 5 more ponies...so it depends on what you wanna use the motor for. I believe that it is proven horsepower from gm, from what I have heard the LT4 hot cam conversion is proven as well for the 430hp...
