Talking Just bought a new engine!

I went to the chevy dealership in Burnaby on Kingsway and plunked down the cash for a fastburn 385 and the HOT cam/1.6rr kit This combo is supposed to make 430hp at the crank, so it ought to propel my 3600lb Camaro into the 12's with the help of some sticky tires.

I guess I'll be yanking my old engine this weekend to make room for the new one which should arrive in ~2 weeks.

A friend of mine has one in his oldsmobile and it runs 12.9 - 13.0. Being that my car is 300lbs heavier I figure I should get 13.2 - 13.3 out of it on regular street tires.

Make sure you do not allow it to overheat.

Is that the HT383 P/N 12497317? If so, it's not yet available according to http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/Crat...rformance.html

Yep. Skip there knocked over $1500 off the purchace price Seems like a good place to go for Chevy stuff.

I dunno about the giggle juice with hypereutectic pistons and all. There are people running a 100 shot successfuly. I've heard horror stories about 150. I'd rather get the heads worked over and throw in a bigger cam than spray. Last time I blew an engine it took me 2 years to get my car back on the road. I don't wanna go through that again.

Cool, but doesn't the LT1 get 13.0 @109 mph with just the hotcam kit? Just wondering

I dunno. Could very well be. I suppose I could have converted to an LT1, but that would have cost too much money.
