383 fuel pressure and timing

Hey, we just finished my 383, and my question is what kind of fuel pressure should I run, and what should I set the base timing at. It has Sportsman II heads, 10:1 compression, 24# injectors, 58mm TB, AFPR, SLP Runners, Plenum and intake Ported, Crane cam ground for this Application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help you much here. I don't know what your eprom is set to do. If it the stock one, it will not be too good. Talk to www.fasterproms.com and they will set you up. My timing and fuel pressure was set to stock. They just manuplated the fuel injector pulse width to accomodate the parts. They will charge you $500 to burn it. They send you a rough cut and have you take readings and send another one and more readings. By the thrid one, you should have it pretty much dialed in. This is a true custom chip not an off the shelf one like hypertech where they custom it to what you want and leave it at that. I heard that Ed will redo it but you have to be there on his dyno. Fasterproms does it with the chip in the car and you emailing them the results. No downtime. Next time you do some major mods and want a reburn they go thru the same process and charge you $150. I have no stake in this but Just a happy customer.

Another alternative is you can buy the equipment for the same money or more and try DIY till you get it running right. I have seen someone do it with DFI and we ended up replacing the engine.
