What's the best Torque Converter?
My birthday is coming up and my dad told me to find a torque converter and he would buy it for me. (within reason of course) So, Im just wondering which one to get and what size as well. 3300? Vigilante? Help me out.

you need to list your mods, future plans ans inteded use of the vehicle (ie, year round, occasinally drag race ect)
Monte Carlo SS (last RWD) had an 1800RPM stall, which is high for a factory car. And I think (don't quote me) most advertised stall speeds are for a 350--for a 305 the speed is lower (?)
Maybe I have that last bit bakwards.

Convertor isn't gonna help your car with the mods you have. Do a cam upgrade and new gears and then the Convertor will be beneficial. Right now I would surmise that you may gain a few .1's in the 1/4 as long as you go no bigger than a 2400. Anything larger may be just too big for your current application.

I'd buy a Precision Industries Vigilante. Bottomlime
Have them build it for a "Bolt on" modified 305 TPI...somewhere around 2400 RPM....
Once you get more serious mods done...heads/cam/mayb some nitrous...get it rebuil with a higher stall speed...around 3000 maybe. Whn you buy it new, it should come with a certifricat for a free stall upgrade!! Nice huh!?! Look to spend around 700-750 to your doorstep
