350 Motor swap
What is different about the 5.0 and 5.7 cars. I heard that 5.0 cars have no posi trac. What are the gears for both? Are there different driveshafts? How hard is the swap from 5.0-5.7 tpi and could you tell me a little about it. my email is bcmay@purdue.edu I would like to take a 5.0 rs convertable and drop in a 5.7 and everything else needed to make it as fast as a iroc.
There are many more things to condsider. A simple 305 tpi swap to a 350 tpi only needs a few things like a new ecm. But if you are going from a carb 305 to a 350 tpi, you are going to need a lot more. And posi is an option that had nothing to do with engine size....I believe its G80 or something.
Yes Its not to bad Just did it for a buddy.
If you have 305 tpi You can swap out to a 350 no prob.
You will need a new prom, for the ecm 40 bucks from GM.
And it helps if you get a later 350 87 and up.
everything else bolts right up.
