"7" is what GM used for the crossfire engine. Your car is strange.

1982= eng code (7) for 305 CFI LU5
1983= eng code (7) for 305 carb L69
1984= eng code (G) for 305 carb L69
1985=same as above (G)
1985=same as above (G)
1986=same as above (G) last year for this engine.

This should clear up the confusion about the engine code in the Vin # for the L69....

Also, the crossfire engines were coded S in '83.

It's not the HO. I looked up the casting number on the block and it ended in "SDN" whick tells me it's a LG4. Someone played a sick joke on me and put the decals on it and made me think its the L69.

Thats ok, I'll still keep it, might even leave the decal on the dash just cause it looks cool.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Wonder what else I will find????

Not that this will make you feel any better, but my 86 LG4 is the same way -- it is an LG4 per the VIN and PRO but someone slapped the 5.0 Liter H.O. stickers. I completed the "clone" with the dual snorkel.

Well it's good to see that I am not the only one that had decals slapped on their car. I was hoping that the powertrained had been swaped out but upon further investigation it's not. Not sure it I am an uninformed buyer or not, I guess I have been called worse.

Again, I thank everyone for their input. It has been a good learning experience
