305 Vs. 350

Here's my stupid question of the day. How can I tell the diff between a 350 or a 305 by looking at it?

If its a 3rd gen TPI just a visual inspection will tell you nothing. The 305/350 are about identical in appearance.
If the engine is orginal to the car check the Vin number, it always identifies the engine size.

if it is newer then 87, it will have 5.0L(305) or 5.7L(350) cast in to the block behind the drivers side head

Dang. I was hoping there would be a easier way. The behind the head thing may be the only option. I know a friend that bought a old school Caprice. The engine looks nice and fancy but it doesnt feal like a 350.

I'm guessing it may be a carbed or TBI style 350? In that case, it probably will feel unimpressive considering they weren't loaded with gobs of horsepower and they have alot of vehicle weight to lug around.

If it is a TBI Caprice look at the SPID sticker. L03=305 L05=350

look at the balancer. 305 balancers are thicker stock.
