305 twin turbo?
305 twin turbo?
what all would i need to boost my 305? im thinking of runing 2 kkk k26's(really small turbos) at low boost.. so what all would i need besides the oil lines, turbos, turbo manfolds, upgrade fuel system.... would have i to get a hack? or ......
Re: 305 twin turbo?
Money, Tools, Mechanical ability, Time, Imagination, and Patience is all really good to have. The parts almost seem minor considering.
Boost on any engine is always fun. Goodluck! Tons of info/pics online of similar projects to help you out.

Re: 305 twin turbo?
also gonna depend on if your car is fuel injected or carb. the products you use will change in price a bit.
if you're using that small of a turbo and only planning 6-8lb of boost, you might as well just save on fabrication time and product usage and go single turbo... twins means two wastegates, two blow off valves, double the plumbing, a more expensive intercooler, and more heat under the hood with less clearance to do basic maintenance.

Re: 305 twin turbo?
thanxs for the link(but the other links on that page dont work?)
im still thinking of ideas. i found a really good site that shows u step by step how to build turbo manfolds for a 350. and if the turbo sticks out the hood, that doesnt really matter. i can just cut vents in the hood and but sumkind of scoops over the cutout. i still duno what kinda of turbos im going to use.. b/c i work at a junkyard on weekends so im going to try an build a junkyard kit.

mines fuel injected(or whatever that ****s called). i know its not a carb. i wanna put a beefed up coil, cam, intake manfold, bigger injected carb(again sorry duno the real name), and other misc mods
i already have a aftermaket exhaust with no cats
Re: 305 twin turbo?
That is a lot of time spent on a setup that leaves a lot on the table. But if it is really what you want to do, good luck with it.
To Rollingstock, it is called a tbi as in Throttle Body Injection. Or TPI, Tuned Port Injection. I don't know which car you have.

Re: 305 twin turbo?
Remember that even though it's a lowly 305, it doesn have a pretty large displacement considering some of the stock turbo-charged cars you'll be finding in junkyards are sub-2.0 litres... Which two of those would seriously choke a v8 unless you only want to rev to 3k or so.
The hardest part is figuring out what works the best. Find some thunderbird turbo coupe turbos or something. If it's fuel injected but still looks like a it's got a carb on it then it's the throttle body injection (TBI) and you'll need a carb hat that can take some pressure. Good luck.

post a link. ive been looking for that. one of the options i found was to flip the headers around so they come forward in a upswept manor. the problem i see with that was the exhaust ports were d shaped. (was planning on doing this to a lt1 in a 79 TA) so i dont know if theres gonna be a flow problem.
Re: 305 twin turbo?
heres a link to a home made mustang setup, he reveresed the headers and welded on the turbo flanges
