305 Swap ?'s ...

How hard woud a engine swap from a 3.1 L 92 RS to a 5.0 be? What all would be involved ... basics nothin to overly detailed. Just wondering because I no a guy who was talkin of doing the swap and then putting a vortech supercharger on it. He sed it would either be 6 lbs non-intercooled or 8 lbs intercooled. What would this do a 1/4 in roughly without and with the superchargers ? Also how stable would that bottom end be lol ? Im not sure what year the 5.0 is from but it has 60,000 miles. O and it will be backed up by a Turbo350 Tranny ...

It's involved enough that it would be much cheaper and easier to go buy a V8 car and go from there. You have to basically rewire the entire car, swap the engine and tranny, replace the front springs, change the radiator, swap the driveshaft and motor mounts and tranny mount, probably change the fuel pump and maybe even run new fuel lines, etc.......it's just not worth it. Sell it, buy a 350 car, and go from there.

yeah thats probably the best. Why would you put in a 5.0? If you were going to go to the trouble itd make more sense to do something bigger. The only good thing that comes from doing something as major as that is basically what youre doing is tearing apart the majority of the car and just rebuilding the whole damn thing. At least that way you dont have to worry about buying a car that might have a sketchy part buried somewhere you cant see.

I've done the swap myself & it's not exactly as hard as people make it out to be. Yes you could sell your car buy a V8, but anybody can do that. I did the swap because of sentimental reasons.

You, for sure, need: Motor, Tranny, Motor mounts, ECM (if you're going EFI), rad & springs. If you are going EFI the Fuel lines/pump will work fine. Trans mount & drive shaft will work fine regardless (700r4 & T5 are the same length so D/S isn't an issue)

Hope this helps

I wasnt planning on doing it , I already have a 95 LT1 , this was a kid i go to school with and he was telling me how when he is done it wil blow me away and blah blah blah ... So i was like ya ok u reallize im still gunna own u ... And then he started talkin bout runnin boost either 6 lbs nonintercooled or 8lbs intercooled. So i was jsut wonderin what kinda 1/4's they will run with a 5.0 stock , a stock 5.0 with 6 lbs , and a stock 5.0 with 8 lbs intercooled
