1988 z28 convertable rare?
Re: 1988 z28 convertable rare?
Sort of an issue of semantics and interpretation.
The new model was the IROC-Z. The Z28 only appeared on the dash emblem.
You might want to go to Wikipedia and question their info because:
And, contact Mike Antonick, author of the "Camaro White Book"... he seems to be under the same impression:

1988 .......The Camaro line was greatly simplified this year, starting with discontinuing the slow-selling LT model, and dropping the base Z28.
Although the body style remained unchanged, Chevrolet made changes in the Camaro models and content for 1988. The LT option and Z28 model were gone.
Chevy Camaro LT option dropped. Chevrolet Camaro Z28 model dropped and replaced by the 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28. (although interior dash badge still read `Z28 IROC-Z', rather than just `IROC-Z' as on exterior badges).
Re: 1988 z28 convertable rare?
No. Nope. Sorry. No. Your 91 did NOT come from the factory with any sort of IROC-Z emblem, anywhere. GM's license agreement with IROC expired at 11:59pm on 12-31-89. That is why ZERO 1990 model IROC-Z 's were actually built in 1990. They were all built before January 1st, 1990
Also, no there were absolutely not any factory convertible 350, 5 speed cars built. There were zero 350, 5 speed coupes built, either. It never happened. Check your VIN. The 8th digit will be the letter F if it's a TPI car.
There were however, a handful of Trans Am GTA convertibles built with the 5.7 engine. Again though, never, EVER a 5.7 with the 5 speed.
