If this "ZL1" is built it will be a low production kind of thing. So the $45,000 is not going to decrease sales of all of the other cars. Did the GT500 kill Mustangs sales? Hell, it probably helped sales.

Some of us don't want a Corvette. I would rather have a car that costs the same as a Vette, but at the same time, outperform the base model Corvette and run close to their top dog. I may be one of the few who would be willing to pay the top dollar ( up to 50K) that would come with such a car, but I know I'm not the only one willing to throw down big money for a car that only a few have. I will get a 5th gen. and I want the baddest **** that GM builds from the factory. (Hoping it's supercharged.) If this means I have to wait an extra couple of years, then so be it.

Go buy the Corvette and let me know how you feel when the Camaros top dog makes it look slow. I know which driver will be the one with the big grin on their face.

Yea....a Z28 is not going to be $45,000.........you are talking about what would probably be a very limited production run of 427 Camaros.............how does that relate at all to GM's sales/etc./etc.........

what? i was talking about from the begining about buying a 427 camaro for 40,000 not 45,000, but 40,000 tops. GM is not going to throw a high price tag on a half fiberglass half sheetmetal body car, near there all fiberglass body, steel frame vette.

yes..I know

The point of my post was they would not price something like the typical Z28 model at $45,000....but something like a limited production run of 427 powered Camaros is a different story IMO.... Unless you are saying that the Z28 should be the 427 - then nothing I've said really applies..

I could afford a 'vette. I own a Camaro (Blue '02 SS 'vert with turbocharger etc.). I like Camaros better. I like a back seat. I like the looks of the 4th gen Camaro better than Corvette's. I don't know how many like me are out there but if GM puts a 427 in, I for one will buy it.

They almost certainly wont.

And anyone who would actually be able to afford one can also afford the $15,000 for the LS7 and $40,000 for the z/28 and do a swap if they have to have it.

The LS7 is not going to end up in the 5th gen.

Z28 will be the top high production model. I wouldn't be suprised to see a 427 Camaro, but it wont be an SS.

Camaro (RS) --> SS --> Z28 --> ZL1............face it.
