Yep! Seeing as how I would never trust someone else (especially a dealer) with my car anyways the warranty means nothing to me. First mod will be a tune.

 

Yes , I will . Its really no different then before , though there wasnt a offcial policy about it per sey . On GM's part , I think its totally fair . With the amount of information that can altered in a pcm , theres just to many variables . If you for instince take away all the torque management from a pcm , then after doing so ...say six months down the road ...break an axle or hurt something in the trans , how is tech supposed to theorize and say this probably would have happened with the GM tune in as well so I will warranty it ?

Gotta pay to play , GM isnt obligated(nor should they be) to warranty non-stock cars and trucks .

 

Depends, if it comes out and the motors they put in it are gaining 50 rwhp from intake exhaust and tune I probably will.

This really isnt that big of a deal. just get a new PCM and flash it with your stock GM tune...

Now the tuning companys out there better be knocking on GM's door to find out how they can get there tunes GM approved and come with approved part numbers!

That's backwards. Get a new PCM, flash it with the tune and run it.

You'll need to swap the factory PCM back in fairly regularly so that it's calibrations and recorded stats match the condition of the vehicle a little more closely.

 

According to the people in the "know" this will not work either. GM will be able to detect if a PCM has been swapped.

 

Funny how this policy shows up here on 1Apr. Nuff said.

I hadn't heard that. I thought that the PCM would overwrite stored data every so often.

If GM can track swaps, that could be fun.

 

Well all i gotta say is "where there is a will there is a way".... even if GM has a second module to "record" what happens to the PCM thats just something you will have to take out when you swap PCMs....

And yes you would just take your stock one out replace it with a new modified one....

Since I just purchased this vehicle this past weekend, I won't be going for an aftermarket exhaust system any time soon for it will kill the manu. 100,000 powertrain warranty. If this is the case of what I can't do, I hope Chevy manu. the Camaro properly so that we are happy upon ownership without the necessity of voiding the warranty.

The G8 is a new make for the US.... along with the Camaro, especially if it gets and share the LS7 with the G8 GXP next year. Something that is recent in production, is risky to chance it...... You can can end up paying more out of your pocket than the monthly payment of the vehicle.

As I was posting in the LS1 board.... from a stop, my vehicle hauls... but from a roll from cruise, the Fuel Management System lags as it switch gears to pick up the RPMs of acceleration. A tune will affect this system GM has in place.

Think twice about the consequences of modding your vehicle.
