Sorry Charlie ..... my answer is NADA.

I want a full load 'vert, and if I can't have every creature comfort option our '06 Trailblazer has ..... plus HUD .... I'll be disappointed. However, as has been said, I'd pay extra for a weight saving package (carbon fiber fenders, hood and the like). I also don't want to have 20" wheels forced on me (that's the autocrosser in me talking).

Nada, This is going to be my daily driver that can romp when my right foot gets the itch.

And no I wouldn't pay extra just to lose some Lbs. I'm not gonna be dragging/racing my camaro except on RARE occasions, its just going to be a fun daily driver.

And yes I will bite.. I will have 20" wheels if they are option as well as adding sound deading and putting in 2 12" subs in the trunk.. and it will have a V8.

Crazy how words get interpreted...Cheryl never said it would get T-tops. She said they were "thinking" about it. And that was over 5 months ago...

Your car is going to sink through the pavement.

Well, when I had a sportbike and got together with some other guys to ride, some were always boasting: "yeah I got some titanium axles, and aluminum fasteners and lightweight windscreen, carbon muffler, blah, blah blah..." and guess what? a lot of those guys were like 220-240lbs and looked like a Big Mac wrapped in colorful leather suits. They were the single heaviest component in the rider/bike equation so why bother? they would never be able to accelerate or corner like a 140-150lb guy on the same bike. I think the top rider used for 1/4 by test magazines and manufacturers, Jay "Pee Wee" Gleason was about 125lb of pure talent, so if you want a lighter ride, lose some weight yourself first! (not to mention the health benefit).

A lot of guys load up a car with audio equipment, accesories, etc. so guess this would be aimed at a pure roadracer kind of guy?

well, how about tubular a-arms, and engine crossmember? aluminum everything in the engine like the Vette? aluminum pulleys and radiator too as well as tubular exhaust instead of cast iron manifolds. Plastic fenders and valances, aluminum hinges for the hood and trunk, aluminum hood maybe? I would give up thick carpeting, and wish for lightweight sound deadening. Definitely the t-tops/sunroof would be the first thing to go. some lightweight composite shell type seats would be welcome, maybe as a GM accesory. I don't like ridiculously big wheels and huge tires, give me 18-19" rims and I'm happy. get rid of the spare tire and jack, use some run flats. the heaviest accesories are the speakers and bass systems, maybe a radio delete sytem? I guess that by just removing the huge hatch window a lot of weight will be saved.

True. What's really funny is that some "experts" have been saying for over a year that T-tops were not even up for consideration due to crash standards. In those 5 months we have also learned that the the car officially now has a b-pillar. What we already knew was that t-tops were one of the (THE?) most often ordered and most profitable options on the 4th gens (not to mention standard on on the T/A's and eventually formulas). By now the decision has been made. There are people who know the answer. Those people are not us...

I'd like to have all carbon fiber body panels and aluminium suspension pieces.

However, I'd seriously give up big wheels and tires, power seats and leather.

Which reminds me I hope the 5th Gen carries on the "stripper" ordering ability made famous in the 4th Gen. That way if you want to get rid of all the heavy and expensive options just don't get them. I remember 4th Gen stripper Z28's being about 50-75lbs lighter than their loaded brothern.

I'd take the weight saving of OnStar and apply its cost savings to a lighter [second] component.

I'll take all of those options (minus the open roof) and I would bet that I would still be faster, nicer, and just as economical as any stripper N/A car. At least within 1-2 graduations of any performance figure (i.e. 1 mpg, 1 mph thru the 1/4, slalom, etc.)
Now if it where my choice the racer in me would lose all of those options except for the forced induction.

1) The question was "What would you give up to save weight". Not "How would you personally option your car".

2) All else being exactly the same, the NA car would be more than 1 mph faster than the SC car through the slalom.

3) I couldn't care less about my 1/4 mile trap speed.

4) "Nicer" is an opinion and therefore subjective. I find cloth interiors to be more comfortable and "nicer" than leather.
