Don't disgrace the zl1 name, it is a rare car, not mass produced like the ls7 will be. I hate it when companies bring back old car names, why not just stick with Z/28? People already know what that is! Like Red said in one of his posts, if you tell someone you have a Z/28, they know its a Camaro (and a fast one).

A $40,000+ Camaro would also be a rare car. You guys really think Chevy would sell more than 500 of these? Get real.

How about those few 2002 ZL1 cars that sat at a dealer lot for a year? (i used to go to the gmmg website and search regularly)

GM already made and sold a bunch of stage 3 4th gens with 427's.
They cost around 75K. Don't see why they would suddenly give you a new body style and the engine for 40K but whatever.

GM didn't build those. GMMG did.

What?? They were sold out before they were built and the cheapest one was like 65 grand!

And here's more information on the prototype car that was built...

And to answer your first question, how many $40,000 GT-500's does Ford expect to build for my2007? Hint...it's in the thousands.

None of the above. How did 1LE get on the list???

How about making some new history with a new moniker. Btw, this would be a Camaro above the base, SS, Z/28 (in that order) in my mind.

That seems to be the current marketing strategy, like it or not.

Re: What should the LS7 Super car be called

Out of curiosity, was the engine in the 4th gen ZL1 a big block?

Honestly I don't thik the LS7 model should be a Z/28 or an SS and the 1LE package wasn't that "huge" per say.

I think if they go with it, it should be a COPO car, like I said before Yenko, or something new... or pull one out of the Corvette book and call it a Z/28.R like the C5.R or C6.R

1LE became what the origional Z28 was origionally. It was never badged, but neither was the ZL1 COPO, which was the same motor in the Yenko. To that end Yenko didnt make the list because Don Yenko was a dealer who used the ZL1 motor. The first Z28's were not badged either.
