You guys might want to run the numbers and see if the lower insurance expense (one fewer cars) plus the lower payments (due to a trade in) don't outweigh the cost of the extra gas. Or at least get you close enough that the pleasure of driving your Camaro is worth a few extra bucks a month.

After watching what Ed had to say about the V8 engine shutting down half of the cylinders, I don't think fuel consumption will be too big of an issue.

every little bit helps. but I get what u'r saying. I for one don't think I'll be worrying about my gas mileage when I'm driving the car I've been waiting on for about 2 & 1/2 years, but to each his own.

Not refering to you. I can't believe how most people are nit picking the pre-pro, like the car hasn't been out of production for 5 or 6 yrs. Ya'll ought to be happy ur getting the camaro back. Cuz I am.

I'm not going to worry about it too much. With hope, when it hits $4 a gallon, less people will drive, leaving more room for me and my orange 5th.

Anyway, I see plenty of people driving full-size trucks every day, a V8 Camaro can't be any worse on gas than that. So I don't think it'll be a huge problem.

Lets just say the Camaro gets 18/27 mpg....similar to what guys get with the GTO. Lets say you spend $60 a week on gas, that's $2,600. Do you know what kind of car you'd have to drive to get 36/54 mpg?? And that's only going to save you about a hundred bucks a month on gas.
Excellent post! I currently drive a 2002 Tahoe (4.3L) as a daily driver. I am considering a new Malibu as a replacement to save money on gas. However even at $4/gal, the savings from the mpg difference doesn't even cover what my payments would be for the Malibu.
