ya, they overreached on this. i mean, the patriot act and the rights that tramples on is bad, but when they start raising fuel standards, thats where I draw the line!!

Any chance of GM having a aftermarket supercharger they sell that installed would still retain the warranty?

My wife says the same thing.

No sense comparing to the Camaro's from 10 yrs. ago. That's history. Today - what I like to call "the golden age" - you can by a bone stock car with 550hp. How can you pass that up? Maybe Z06 is the way to go...but I have to drive the CTS-V.

But a 430hp, 3800lb Camaro doesn't cut the mustard anymore. That much is sure.

Hey, maybe the way to go is to buy a used Camaro 6 yrs from now...and drop in an LS7. But I sure as hell ain't buying a brand new car just to hot rod it. That's silly.

I read it as they are going to try to make the V6 an awesome car, so much so that the majority of buyers will go that route and it will help offset the (CAFE) impact of the V8s. That said, I'd expect to see fairly aggressive pricing and packaging on the V6, in particular, the RS.

Get this through your whiny, rock hard heads... The market for a 500+ HP supercharged V8 is just too damn small to mess with right now. The Camaro has to hit the ground running with affordable models to be a success. I'm happy there *is* a fifth gen Camaro. You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be buying one in about 2 years when my truck payment is done. More than likely a six speed 422 horse model.

Keep in mind that the 422 horse LS3 car is *just* as powerful as the premium, top of the line Challenger. It's also lighter. The Challenger RT is 390 horse. None of the mustangs currently offered are close unless you're talking the supercharged models, and then you're in the 50k+ range.

If your outlook is "No Z-28, no Camaro" then you need your head examined.
Funny you don't mention the Camaro's true competition - the Mustang. Wonder why...

There is no difference. Except for the fact that one was to help keep you safe and the other is to help keep the greens happy.

Excellent post! Im not keen on the idea of buying a brand new car and playing blacksmith as if I just pulled it out of the woods...

The U.S.Government is passing laws that tell you what you can drive. Rather than allow the free market to determine what will be built and sold, they'll mandate it.

If this upsets you (and personally, I think it should) you need to write to every lawmaker you can find.............
Well put Scott! Its discouraging though. How do you tell or word something like that to the Government who feels the Current CAFE was a compromise of the least MPG they can get. Theres no consolidated effort or petition to sign is there? Im not complaining just asking.

LMAO at "designed to keep you safe" what a joke. In that case, CAFE is designed to keep you safe from inhaling fumes of gas guzzling cars...........

but if there's gonna be THAT many more V6's sold vs. the V8 version, then that means the V8 versions might be limited in availability (ex$pen$ive) if they sell a ton of V8 cars then the V6 sales needed to really offset the CAFE impact might be unrealistically high.

all they need to do with the z28 is make it like the 1le.. Koni all around... better sway bars and lighten the car for gods sake... THat is it... I don't care about the 556hp! i care about the weight. Mods will ALWAYS come to the car, so in the end... They might as well change the camshaft and bring the rating of the car up with lower weight. Leave it to the aftermarket to do such wonders.

Heck.. Give me a 7L with a small enough camshaft that doesn't pay gas guzzler tax and I will definitely do wonders to it, yada yada yada.

Anyways... one more thing to get hopes up... Scott post it... and he referred to as "he was talking about CAFE" so NOT about the z28. I just hope that the z28 comes and I will hold myself. I don't want to buy a car that I will ahve to sell to get the z28. So I will wait probably a year or so after the maro is out.

I bought a brand new Trans Am in 1986. It had the Tuned Port 305 in it. The top of the line engine for that year. I spent the next 9 years getting my *** handed to me by every Mustang 5.0 owner within a 500 mile radius of my house. I said, NEVER AGAIN, sold it and bought a 1995 Z28 6 speed, and paid back the favor for the next 10 years.

I will not buy a 2010 Camaro SS and spend the next 9 years getting my *** handed to me by every guy in a Mustang GT500. That is why I want a Supercharged LSA Camaro with 556hp. Because the competition has a 500hp vertion of THEIR car. If GM can't offer it, then I will buy the Mustang, or a used Z06.

Have you ever looked at 4th gen sales figures?
