NEWS: Hennessey's Blown Camaro SS: The Real Story
Personally, if I'm going to add the HP, it will be for some other reason that to just say that I added the HP....ie....I'm going to use it, thus there is concern there. If you never "push it too hard"......ok. Have to ask "what's the point"? But ok.
I will agree that under modest boost levels, life expectancy could be quite good...depending upon driving style, fuel quality, tuner compentency, etc.
But in general, I'll stick by my original comment.

my point is that, im not going to drive this car EVERY day. i will not drive it HARD every day. it will have its moments when i take it to the track and the the strip. but as far as me making this a race car, i would say 40% race 60% just driving. plus there just no better feeling than having a boosted car. oh yeah and ill use it for the occasional highway race.(on a closed course)

As far as boosted cars....that's a personal preference thing. I've done a twin turbo 5.0 and a KB 04 Cobra. Neat stuff, but I much prefer the N/A variety (and the LS series motors excel in that regard).
To each their own.

im all over the place in trying to figure out what im going to do yet. i love supercharging and turbos, but i already ordered headers and dont want to replace them for a turbo. and i have thought about internals , but i never did anything like this and i dont know too much about changing anything out. i know a head cam swap would be very beneficial and boost the power quite a bit.

Exhaust, gear, other basic bolt-ons, traction, some weight loss, and aggressive driving (did I mention gear too?) would lay waste to MANY cars that are simply "bolt-on a blower and go" type of setups.
I think this just shows how much a bargain the LS9 is at $22,000. 640hp as is straight from GM with a GM warranty and dependability. I know it seems like a lot of money, but I wonder how much it would cost to rebuild a LS3 to be street drivable with that much power? And I would think you could sell the LS3 for around $5k to help make the project more affordable.
brand new ls3 are around 8 grand arent they? i would love to buy the ls9 and drop it in but i want to keep the origional motor, just in case i want to resell or turn back to stock. when buying that ls9, does everything come with it that is needed to put it in the car? will the tranny and rear end hold up to it?
However, the bolt on a blower (well, a complete blower kit w/ fuel & tuning to match) and go car may a lot more horsepower and show a higher 1/4 trap speed. And therefore, could be a lot more fun from a 40mph or 70mph punch.
