I give them a 12.5 @ 113 at best . Give the car to a real driver, and I'm sure it'll do better .

That's uh.....quite the pulley/belt setup they have there. Interesting.

Still not of fan of factory high compression motors mated to aftermarket superchargers.

Things that make you go "boom".

5-7psi, that's nothing too crazy it should be able to handle it quite well.

so you are more of a fan of replacing internals rather than s/c or turbos?

isnt eaton the same company that makes the s/c for the zr1 and the cts-v?
that is a crazy pulley setup on there. ive never reallyu payed too much attention to magnuson. ive been more of a fan of vortech. makes me rethink things though.

I think he is a fan of replacing internals so they can handle superchargers or turbos.

Roots style makes more power than a centrifugal. Well, peak potential may be the same, but roots is positive displacement, so boost is instantaneous .

ahhhh. i see. i think this car will be just fine with a blower on and not replacing the internals. as long as the boost doesnt get out of control and it stays around 4-6lbs

Just pour some 110 fuel to it and it'll be fine

i think its a much better looking setup also. you dont lose any hood clearance like you might with other chargers. on my trans am, i had to cut the hood to fit the vortech in. this might be the route i take as far as s/c

That has been my general opinion as well - for example, when Lingenfelter came out with the mangunson supercharger packages for LSx vehicles - just a blower, fuel, and tuning, no internal work.

However, casual observation hasn't revealed any stories of those systems grenading - so maybe, if done by a competent tuner, with "reasonable" boost levels (guessing 6 psi or less), it is a reliable method given today's precise control of the fuel air mixture?

Now, personally I rank Lingenfelter above Henessey on the "competent tuner" scale. But the basic idea of putting 4 to 6 psi of boost on stock internals with proper fueling may be turning out to be okay.

Re: the pulley system - isn't that a standard feature of the Magnuson blower for a few years now? If so, it seems we would have heard about it if there were any big problems with the setup.

they said its worked out pretty good for them. i didnt hear of any problems with the pulley. its just different.

as far as running boost on the stock motor, i dont think there is anything wrong with it, in moderation. i wouldnt take it out drag racing every weekend and not expect something to happen. i had my blower on my ls1 and put 15k + on it and had no problems at all. i wasnt racing it, just got into it a few times and never pushed it too hard. i think now the s/c companies have gotten it down pretty good to make it a very reliable kit. i know some companies have a 1 year warranty but there are a few, i think eaton, has a 3 year warranty.
