NEWS: GM Reportedly Calls "Game On" For Supercharged 550HP Camaro Z/28
Ahhh, I see. So, my purchasing a good family car, automatically discredits me......... when it comes to a "fun car."
The fact that my next vehicle purchase, after my "good family car," will be a "fun car," doesn't count, I guess.
If you base your "opinion" of who is qualified, and "allowed" to talk about "fun cars," on the fact they are planning the immediate purchase of said car............. then this forum would be rather empty.
See, my requirements on my "good family car," and my "fun car" are completely different.
Oh, and I take no offense to you taking my comments with a grain of salt. After all, what would a girl like me, know about a good handling car. I mean, it's not like I built my last "fun car" myself........... for handling, first and foremost.............. or that I consider tossability, and fun-to-drive (my definition of fun-to-drive = good handling) as the most important qualification for my "fun car."
I take your comments with a grain of salt also (no offense intended).
Back to the upcoming Z28. I guess we will just have to see how this all plays out. Since they are saying it will still be a year until it is here............ there is plenty of time for the arguements/discussions to continue.

If you stay true to yourself, I'm sure the Camaro will not be your next fun car (it will be the Mustang). But hey, that's OK, Camaro won't be my next car either unless they decide to ship it down here at a reasonable price. So that's about the only commonality we share.

Forgive me if I occasionally 'take a swipe' at people who attempt to spoil the fun whenever we hear of some exciting news from GM. Please, carry on with your credible opinions.
I think the main problem with the new Camaro is this. The Camaro has always just been a tick behind the Vette in performance, and in some cases bettering the Vette. But look at the gap in performance now. The Vette simply runs away from the Camaro at a road course or an autox. Its obvious to me people who dont care about the weight or dont want some of us to complain have not ever seen this car in action at an autox or road course. The car pushes like a tractor and the Vette just gets better and better. sure the car Camaro is fast in a straight line but getting into a corner is pretty bad. The last autox I was at the 4th gen looked better going into a corner than the new Camaro.
Now we have a new Z28 coming out with even more weight, which will translate into worse handling. Sure the car will haul *** in a straight line but cornering will suffer.

It's just the continual Ford flag waving and the usual (and opportunistic) GM bashing that I observe in your comments and some of the contradictions in your posts that make me shake my head at times (no offence, your not the only one).

seeing how there is only one production line, and the convertible demand is nearly as strong as the coupe demand, I see this more as a 2013 model in 2012. With a boatload of 'verts being built, we'll be back to initial allocation just like the coupes, and of course, the coupes will be hard to produce with such a demand on the convertibles. I really don't see a Z28 coming out in the same year.
I'd also imagine about 2 or 3000 units

Also, this comes as no surprise - there's been 4 in test in Auburn Hills for some time. Pedders suspension even mentioned they were working on them back in April. They never said there wouldn't be one.....they just said "not at this time".
I always take your comments with a grain of salt (no offence intended).
You are entitled to your opinion as well, LG94. The fact that you are on your way to buying a 4400lb SHO shouldn't enter this discussion either... so I don't know why you are so concerned about a car's weight, especially a relative lightweight like a 3850 lb Camaro SS.

No offense to the Ford enthusiasts present, however I suspect that if this were a Mustang forum the percentage of people trashing the new GT500 because of its weight (if that were indeed an issue) would be far less than the number who would be praising it as the greatest Mustang of all time. Is that the fundamental difference between Camaro and Mustang enthusiasts? One demands perfection, even when it is not achievable within the goals of the market model where their car exists; while the other perceives perfection where it may not exist just because of the badge on the car?
I'd say you'd probably be a little bit ahead of the curve (depending on location). I'm a few years younger than you and the most common question I get about my GT500 is "How the hell did you afford that?"
guionM would know for sure, but I beleive the median buying demographic for the GT Mustang is about your age and the GT500 a bit older.

My daily driver family car, needs to be large (I like space, so kill me. There is always a ton of additional "stuff" that needs to be hauled around, when you have a child), extremely comfortable, have alot of luxury features, have more than enough power, and not tip over, going around a corner. The biggie, is it needs to be AWD (my daily driver needs to be able to be driven daily, snow, ice, rain, or shine).
My "fun car" does not need to be a daily driver. Thus, this allows me to have more fun with it. This allows me to put up with the compromises that all "fun cars," have. One compromise I will not make, is handling. I don't know about anyone else here, short of a few, but I can certainly feel the weight in many supposed "fun cars," these days. That is just not fun, to me.
BTW, my current daily driver, is my SD. At 7500-8000lbs, the word nimble, is not even in its vocabulary. When we get the SHO, the SD will go back to being "only" a very capable truck.
You want to know what is the epitome of a "fun car??" Our 1966 Yenko Stinger. For those who are unfamiliar, this is the road racing Yenko............ not the dragstrip wonder.
