Lightbulb Ideal Z28

Well I know there isn't anything coming from GM till they have huge success with Camaro v6 and SS(which I have faith that it will be a successful product), but many are talking about LSA, lightweight, good brakes, and excellent corning curve z28. With that all being said the pricetag for Z will not be cheap. I personal don't mine the z28 coming with a ls3 with a cam producing 450+ hp, with 300+pounds shave off, and excellent handling. Price no more than $5000 over the SS.

I would love to hear how you would shave 300+ pounds off of the car. Fbodfather himself has said ideas like composite body panels etc would not save weight. People don't buy cars without power windows, power seats etc so that won't do any good. There just is not a practical way to reduce the weight of this car at this point in it's production. I wish they could. I would love a 450-475hp 3300lb Camaro but it just aint gonna happen. We may get a 3900 LB 500+hp Z28 and if we do I will buy it without hessitation.

My choice isn't on the list.

But, FWIW, The LS3 can make 480hp with the hot cam swap. Add a better flowing exhaust, CAI (or ram-air induction) and with a good tune the current SS/M6 could make 500hp without adding an ounce of weight.

Upgrade the brakes, wheels & tires and you might have something.

Well lets be realistic 150+ z06 diet (carbon fiber hood and maybe hydroformed aluminum frame) it can be done.

Being realistic means that we need to understand that they will not design and build a seperate frame for a Camaro. As far as carbon fiber let me give you an example of how that won't get much done. The BMW M3 coupe has a carbon fiber roof and weighs only 22lbs less that the BMW M3 sedan that has a regular roof and two more doors.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see a light weight Camaro but because the Camaro needs to be a high volume car based on a versitle platform and needs to be affordable we are going to have to just hope for more HP and a car that is well balanced.

As far as the whole "should the Z28 be N/A lightweight or have an LSA" (which actually makes 556hp in the CTS-V) debate, I'll just say:

Oh cr@p, here we go again

Well the reason why chose a cammed ls3 over the lsa (correct me if I'm wrong) wouldn't it cost more to put a lsa in a camaro and worth alot of money to take care of it.

LS3 only has one cam...you said an LS3 with cams. He's just being sarcastic, which you missed.

Zeta + LSA will NEVER equal "lightweight".

ANY volume RWD vehicle that has IRS and a high powered V8 engine from any car maker will never equal lightweight.

The LSA powered sigma CTSv weighs 4,250 pounds.

ANY 500 plus horsepower car that carries more than 2 passengers, RWD, & IRS will never be lightweight.

The current BMW M5 weighs over 4,034 pounds (slightly more than a Crown Victoria) yet is no bigger than the Chevrolet Malibu.

ANY 400 horsepower RWD car that carries more than 2 passengers, has a V8, and IRS will not be lightweight.

The nearly Chevrolet Cobalt sized Lexus ISf weighs just under 3800 pounds (Cobalt is 180" long, the IS is 183")

I guess no matter the actual facts or reality is, the anti-Zeta BS continues.

Your anti-Zeta BS continues.
So CTSV = Z/28? I think not.

Your Zeta sensitivity BS continues.......
