I just drove an ss!!!! W/pics vin#63
Well from my experience, having a 2006 Mitsubishi Evo SE that is equipped with Brembo's, they have very impressive stopping power. Only problem is that they ware down FAST they last maybe 12000 miles if your lucky, now here's the best part. I replaced them with Hawk pads and they squeak, then went with EBC same thing, the best pads are the Autozoner duralast pads, non gold just the regular red and blue box for like $20 bucks, thats what sucks I spent all that $ and the ones that not only stop good but are also quiet are the cheap ones. So just letting you guys know for when you get your V8 Camaro : )
Note that Brembos on one car are not necessarily the same as Brembos on another. Brembo designed the Camaro's braking components to Chevy's specifications, and those may or may not be anything like the specs that Mitsu gave for the Evo.
High performance pads generally squeak more -- I thought that was common knowledge. Until you go to full carbon-ceramic brakes (like on the ZR1), there will always be a tradeoff between braking performance and noise/dusting/durability. The highest-performance pads will wear quickly, make a lot of noise, and leave brake dust all over everything. It's simply a matter of your priorities.
I'm a fan of Napa's premium-level brake pads.
EDIT: I remember reading a review in which they heaped massive amounts of praise on the brakes, but I can't find it.

Good point, I'll have to some research to see if there going to be different, It would be pretty sweet if there the same part # for the pads, just because I have them under warranty already, yes I know, I'm a cheap bastard
.I'm sure eventually, people will be able to get the new Camaros out on tracks and really push them to the limits, but from my limited time behind the wheel, while I couldn't really crank out the car to its limits, when I jammed the middle pedal down, the car hauled down quick
As far as squealing / dusting, as already stated, that comes down to pad compound. Aggressive pads will make themselves known
. For regular street driving, I've been running ceramic pads for at least ~3 years now. They create virtually NO dust (or very minimal, and it's more light gray, vs. dark gray / almost black) and they don't squeal
. Also, I do take my car out on the track and push it, and while I normally run a performance oriented set of Hawks (ie: Blues / HT14's / DTC70's) I've run with the street ceramics, and they work pretty well!..... but I digress ..... the Brembos on the new Camaro feel as strong, or stronger, than the brakes on my LS1
