Re: Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

not offering an auto would be stupid. shifting the gears yourself has become a lost art. no automatic offering would kill sales. not everyone can be like us....unfortunately.

Look for a 6L80 behind the V8's and a 5L40/5L50 or similar behind the V6's.

I would expect a middleweight V8 6spd automatic at some point (6L50/6L60) for the 300-350hp segment.

The 6 spd auto w/ paddle shift would be pretty sweet!

Forget that I say it needs the paddle shifters like the C6

Thats the only thing that would make me consider an auto... otherwise its the 6-speed all the way for me.

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

I am not sure I like paddle shifters. I drove a Tiburon and a Mazda 3 with the sihft option, and there was alot of lag, and it was not really fun. To make matters worse, it was reveresed in the Tiburon. Forward for up and back for down. But, I do not get an auto to shift anyway. I use my cars for commuting and I am happy to let the computer do it most of the time.

Depends on the person and what they like. Never bought a auto trans in a car in my life unless because of engine I wanted did not offer a stick. Then people said when you get older you will get tired of changing gears and a clutch when in town all the time. Well I'm almost 63 and still waiting to get that old

Its simply not ergonomic.

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

I think the horseshoe shifter would be uber cool but considering the A4 shift linkage will come from the parts bin, designing an all-new shifter just for Camaro is cost prohibitive.

I'd rather they put the money into other areas of the car, like the seat leather.

I have to disagree. I find it much more ergonomic in my 69 automatic then my 98 gear selector. Its right where it should be, and easy to use 30 years later. The problem I think some have is it slips too easy between the gears which you would think they could fix with todays technoloty if a new one came out. Even a Manumatic Horseshoe shifter, or a Horseshoe/paddle combo. The 98 gear selector, which not only looks bland, the cheap plastic sticks and the telescoping cover that goes around the shaft broke. Very anoying. How is that better ergonomics?

Looks like an airplane throttle, kinda neat, but It wouldn't work as well as others available...here's where I like having something not copied, just the feeling...but modern.
