Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

Retro, modern. I say as long as the interior looks good I am happy. I even like the orange. But the automatic horseshoe shifter from 68-69 would be so cool it is not even funny. Also, I hope it is further forward than it is in say, the Cobalt. The shifter is pretty far back in that car and I have to pull my arm way back to get into I.
If my fellow automatic enthusiasts want the horseshoe shifter, say so here.

I will be getting the 6 speed, but I'd love to see the old shifter make it to the production Camaro. I have one laying around in my basement. Don't know what I'll use it in, but they just look great.

I haven't seen it in person but the pictures of the shifter look great. Retro modern is a good way to describe it. It looks a little Ferrari/Lambo like.

I really don't care either way on the shifter. But, the horseshoe would look pretty cool.

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

Has any of you that want the horseshoe shifter ever owned a car that has one? My first Camaro was a 68 RS with a horseshoe, and while I got used to speed shifting it, it was still a pain and way below a decent cheap ratchet shifter. AND MINE WAS ONLY A TWO-SPEED!

Leave the horseshoe for the classics! PLEASE!!

Yes I own one 69. Its no harder to shift then 4th gen 98 which I also own gear seleters. Why cant the "horseshoe shifter" be ratchet btw? I love the look of mine. Gives the car the feel like your pulling the throttle back on a Jet before take off

I owned a 68 with a horseshoe as well - at least for a little while until a TH400 replaced the slushbox.

Son, you pull the "throttle" back on takeoff, you ain't going nowhere. Power levers get pushed FORWARD for increased power.

Thank you "Plane-Man".

The Detroit WRIF listeners will get that one...

If the horseshoe shifter needs left in the "classics", so do the console gauges.

I'd be fine with just a T handle shifter.

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

What needs to make production is six speed auto with some tap shift buttons (or padles).

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Must Make Production.

You can have your sissy-shift handle any way you like it, I'll take a 6-speed manual (hold the paddles please).

Seriously though, I would much rather see the staple shifter than the plain-jane T-shifter in some hypothetical automatic.

Not that it matters, I'm hoping GM will come to it's senses and not offer any automatics at all.
