Here's a weight poll for you guys.
Would I want a V8 if a 6th gen Camaro were based on this? Hell yes.
Look at the tear up which GM did on the Commodore to get the Camaro. I think Alpha would require a much smaller tear up to package a V8, if that's where Camaro starts.

The funny thing is about the whole weight question.....there's one very prominent member of this board who could resolve this once and for all, and he's mysteriously absent from this thread. I'm wondering if it's because he would be giving a lot of us an answer we don't want to hear, or he just wants to keep us all in suspense and laugh at our "bickering"?

Finally, the actual weight will vary quite a bit depending on equipment. Look at the G8, which is quoted as being 3995 with the V8, but is more like 4100 on the prototypes that the magazines tested (with premium and sport packages + moonroof).

Your (and his) error was in using the word "dealbreaker" in any manner other than as a pure threshold, because that's what it is.
The whole problem I have is that GMRULZ didn't allow for a "continuum of emotion" in his original phrasing. His original phrase ("3750+ is a dealbreaker") is overly simple.
I really don't want to argue about this anymore. I've made my point repeatedly. If you don't get it, you'll just have to resolve yourself to the fact that I'm smarter than you are.
Assuming you're talking about Scott... I'll bet that even he doesn't know exactly how much it's going to weigh yet. As we've heard already, the interior isn't finished. All of the current preproduction cars have tons of test gear strapped to them, too. I'm sure Scott has a reasonably good idea what the car is going to weigh, but I'll bet he'd still have to give a ~100lb range at this point.
By the way, my vote was "buy something else". If the Camaro is 2 tons, one might as well get the G8 with 2 extra doors and more passenger/trunk space.

Regardless, I don't think Scott is at liberty to reveal anything about the weight of the car.
First, the mustang weight should be 0 (should not exist). Second I would buy the 4,000lb camaro and loose some personal body weight (maybe wear some running shoes rather than my boots, no underwear, ect....). This trend is OCD.
I would concur. I'm one of those who needs to see some advantage to losing two doors, because an extra pair is pretty handy, now that remote locking is universal. The only advantage to two doors is that it's easy to throw stuff in the back seat and then get in.
Are middle aged people who decide after 20 years of post-highschool weight creep to go to the gym and do something about it all OCD too?
Cuz that's the exact same situation....slow, steady weight gain in the auto industry. Eventually you do need to do something about it....
If you buy a 4,000 pound Camaro, wearing your underwear or going commando, will still leave you with a 4,000 pound Camaro.
Can we stop all the discussion on weight for now? (Since we really don't know squat.) Isn't there anything else we can talk about?
I'm getting tired of reading about Charlie's weight problem every time I visit this website.
It's giving me a headache!

Sure, jg. Start a thread about something.
