GM's Wagoner to Host Media
GM's Wagoner to Host Media
Anyone seen this yet?
Figured it would be of some interest here.
You are invited to join GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner, along with Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper on Friday, August 18, at 4:30 p.m. for dinner at Athens Coney Island in Royal Oak , Mich. Just eight days after announcing that GM will build an all-new version of the Chevrolet Camaro sport coupe based on the award-winning concept, Wagoner will be on hand to answer questions about the car on the eve of the 12 th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise, of which GM is a major sponsor.

Re: GM's Wagoner to Host Media
It was an invitation to select members of the media...........nothing would be announced that you haven't already heard. The Woodward Dream Cruise is a big event. We host media -- and it was simply an invitation to celebrate the car in Americana, if you will.
Re: GM's Wagoner to Host Media
So Scott, you mentioned to watch out for something in the podcast over the next couple of weeks. When do you expect us to hear something about possible engines?
I know, I know........I had to ask. So really, when?
Here's what I think is a legitmate question though. With the car available for sale, in early 2009? When would someone typically be able to start an order on that car and how long does it take to delivery?
This will be the first car that I have had the ability to spec the way I want.
Thanks for all the insight you give us.

I have ordered two other cars before (PT Cruiser and Mini Cooper) both I was able to order about 6 months prior to scheduled release. They have to actually place your order on the computer, and the dealer will go through options packages, color model, etc, then place the order. You will receive a "tracking" number for the vehicle (VIN #) and with the PT Cruiser I was able to track the actual production online, which was really cool. You can tell where your vehicle is at all time, when it's on the transport (train, truck etc) and when it arrives at your dealer, very cool. Hopefully you can track the same way with Chevy. Also cool on the PT is the window sticker shows on the top "This Vehicle was built for ________" so it has your name right on the window sticker. Actual delivery time will vary, depending where you live, but if they say March of 2009, your car will be there March 2009 as long as you pre-order from the dealer and be very low on their pre-order list. I already e-mailed and spoke with over a dozen local Chevy dealers, and as long as one will sell me one at MSRP I will buy from one of them. Keep in communication with them and when you find out info, pass it along to them to keep touch, that way as soon as they are available you can be first to order!!

I've already dropped my deposit with a local dealer selling at MSRP with NO FMV mark-up. And luckily, I was the first one to show up with money, so I'll be specing the first one they order. Nice to say, but being first didn't really matter. I just wanted to make sure I got within their allocation window.
I could have asked them these same questions, but this far out, I figured I would give them some time to get additional information.
