GM to keep Camaro buzz going....and a new book....
If memory serves, Challenger production will be limited to around 30,000 units per year........so expect much higher dealer markup.
Here's a thought......I'm watching Barrett-Jackson.....when will GM/Chevrolet bring out a Camaro and offer the rights to buy the first production car.
The 2007 Shelby GT #001 just went for $600,000......

How many of those non-enthusiasts are going to need a car not now, but in five years? You guys are talking like buying a Camaro will be a one-shot deal. I expect Camaro to be back for no less than a full model run, and possibly for the long term. Sure, some of the people who might buy a Camaro TODAY will have bought other cars by the time it comes out. On the other hand, people who aren't in the market for a car today will be in 2009.
The question isn't one of keeping people from buying other cars in the interim, it's keeping the hype alive so that it's a BIG ATTENTION-GETTING DEAL when these things finally hit dealerships.

People come from all walks of life and many factors unrelated to the marketing plan influence purchasing decisions. If the camaro is marketed even in an average fashion and the car is styled well (it is), priced well (everything we know to this point says it will be generally in line with the mustang), and the quality is decent, then it will sell. Let the car stand on it's own merits.
Their line of reasoning probably goes like this:
"Hey. We know you want a ponycar now. But listen. You don't have to settle on the Mustang or Challenger. There is a third choice. The Camaro. While it's not currently available right now, just wait 6 months to a year and you could have the car of your dreams."

It's already beginning to feel old compared to the others.
That's why I believe the Camaro needs to continue to evolve 'til production, to keep people guessing what GM will do to it next, fueling continual excitment.
I wish they'd throw out a couple of heavily updated concepts, showing what they're really capable of, even if they never plan to produce them. Some, love'em or hate'em cars for feedback...they don't even need to be full working models.
Sub some projects to a couple of Universities, make it a contest or something, some fresh, young ideas...winning team goes to final unveiling.

Do you mean the Camaro is begininng to feel old?
And if that's what you meant, are you kidding me?
I don't feel that way. I still think it's the best looking of the 3 (with the Challenger a close second and the Mustang a distant 3rd). Every time I see the new Camaro, I remark how gorgeous the car is.
I'm not worried about the "refreshed Mustang". I don't think it's going to be much different than the current one. New fascias is about it. It will still have that slab-sided look.

^ FYI: Here are 2009 Mustang "spy shots" (just a front fascia lift as you expected):

Not sure if it really will be the next-gen, or a face-lift released earlier. If it really is the next model (which I doubt), I can not see the Mustang keeping its current sales.

... that is a 2010 mule in current body form with only the front end changed for testing...
Why do people see that and think...ITS GOTTA BE THE WHOLE CAR... THEY DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE?!
Chill... manufacturers have done this for eons.
