I really don't know what to say to that, just that you have your opinions and I have mine.

Good to see that it went to a deserving member of the military.

Exclamation

Here's the bottom line...

We are always happy when people help spread information through out the communities as long as it is for the intent of contribution to the community it is being posted on, and not just promotion to draw traffic. That's fair and I think most respectable sites operate this way. I haven't checked but I sure that Camaro5 has no problems posting links to information that is generated here as well.

So let's not bash Camaro5 as I am also sure they won't let people bash us over there either.

So....

Glad people are getting their cars finally!

After I posted last in this thread, a couple of different people I trust have sent me emails and PMs stating that Camaro5 is indeed not backed by a dealership. I trust these people enough to retract that claim.

Nonetheless, I still am not comfortable with the secrecy, and they still deleted my post and my account on their site in a very rude manner. I remain convinced that they have ulterior motives and still feel that they have done more to harm the Camaro community than they have done to help it.

Please note that these are my personal feelings and are in no way representative of any official position held by CamaroZ28.com.

If it's new how come it already has tags? It takes a week or more to get tags in CA. How does Indianna get them right away? Does the driver own their tags so can move them from car to car?

I dont know about other states; but here in MI the tags are usually referred to the renewal sticker we put on the corner plate each year so it can be seen that it is current.

As far as to why it has plates? I would guess that, like michigan; there are $ saving advantages to transferring a plate from another registered vehicle when buying new. Its like 15 bucks compared to probably near 200 on an SS for a new plate.

I transferred a plate from another car I have when I bought my saab; then got a new plate for the older car a month later. Saved me like 120.

God CA sucks. Here in MA you get them right away. Like as soon as you hand over the check to the registry.

As said earlier, he was the first MEMBER of C5 to receive his Camaro and post up pics of it. Two more over there also took delivery yesterday.

ALL the "early" cars are having their BCM's re-programmed for a software issue with the indexing windows; that's the holdup with those cars. My opinion is you won't see a car under VIN 2000 be delivered until late next week at the earliest. In the meantime, people are getting their cars- FINALLY. GOOD FOR THEM.

Edit-> VIN 1443 was delivered so even the cars that are being "fixed" are being shipped as completed.

Same in NY. Simply transfer from "A" to "B". In my case, I'll drive my dealer nuts. I had an 04 GTO (Smartbuy) that I gave back in December. It had my personalized TRM 1 plates on it so I moved them to the "winter ride" 02 Impala I bought so I wouldn't have to give them up in the interim. When Waldo shows up (ya, named the Camaro Waldo at this point), I'm having them take the plates off the Impala, put them on Waldo, and re-plate the Impala. Dealers in NY handle all the DMV crap and plate your car right away so you can drive it..

In IL, if you go to the DMV, sometimes they have a stack of plates and just hand you a set when you register the car.

Like TRM says, dealers in NY will have the car plated & registered when you pick it up. No muss, no fuss.

In Oregon, a new car gets 4 year tags. The paperwork is sent by the dealer to the DMV when you buy the car and you are issued a 30-45 day temp until your registered plates are mailed to you. We will get personalized plates, but definitely wanted the 4 year tags, so instead of ordering them early for one of our existing cars (which would be a 2 year tag) and transferring them to the new car, we'll just wait until we buy the 5th gen and order our plates then. We've already checked availability with the DMV, so I'm confident they'll still be available in a couple of weeks when our car comes in.

Just to stay on topic.....it's very cool to see an enthusiast get their car, no matter what site they use. Double cool that it's someone in the military.

Thats the kind of service we get here for paying the highest taxes in the country, and the state is still broke and running deficits. I just paid $490.00 to register my 04 Dodge Ram for 1 year.
