convertible version may be held back until 2012

Let's just talk industry common practice here.... verts normally come out about a year after coupes.... so applying that standard to Camaro.. would put it right in the middle of winter 2010.
GM would be really silly to miss 2 "convertible seasons".....

My decision on buying a new convertible has more basis in the time frame I am going to buy one. Originally and still to this day I want a Camaro SS convertible that my wife is buying me for my 40th birthday next year. If one is not available either late next year or by the summer of 2010 I am going to look elsewhere.
That is what I am basing my purchase on.

Not really surprising that the vert will be held back. Sad though as the Camaro will need something to keep momentum going. Mustang possibly trumping it in straight line performance, convertible Mustangs and Challengers, no Z/28...

From a personal decision point, the sky very well could be falling (especially for GM). If I decided I can't wait 2 years for a vert and I go buy something else, I'm going to be fairly content for a while. Will the Camaro faithful probably eventually own a one? Probably. But, for me, the chances of me buying a used one will go up QUITE a bit.

That makes perfect sense to me. I was talking more about someone that would go and buy another car tomorrow because they took this article as official word from GM that the Camaro convertible wouldn't be out until 2012. THAT is what I would consider foolish because the article doesn't give any indication of having an official or reliable source for its content.

we may just have a new subset of members for the "Cult of the Camaro Crow Eaters" on our hands here. I love that thread you posted!
