Can you say Firebird?

Its nothing set in stone but who cares, I was reading this mag of hot rod when i flipped to a page that said its rumors going around that if the Camaro does well then we might get a 2012 Firebird.

All I can say to that is...

1) Never say never
2) Don't hold your breath anyway

I would be VERY disappointed in GM if this was allowed to happen. The simple reason being the new Camaro NEEDS to survive. GM pulling financial and engineering resources from the Camaro to fund another model is dumb IMHO.

We'll be lucky if Pontiac is still around in 2012.

I say if Pontiac releases it exactly like pictured in red & it will blow away sales with Camaro?
Only thing I see needs to be corrected is spend 10 cents & color match roof antenna

As a fan of the Firebird it's fun to dream about this happening, but the reality seems highly unlikely. Although with Pontiac being phased into a smaller niche brand with only a few vehicles, I suppose anything is possible. Especially if the niche they fill is rear wheel drive performance cars. Though I am not crazy about the styling in those pics. The 4th gens styling is alot better than Hod Rods stab at a new one. A new Firebird would need to have more unique styling than that.

ive seen that picture and that thing is hideous. it may be a scetch or photoshop but damn it is ugly.

i have heard that also, a long time ago, that if the camaro does well in selling camaro's then they will bring out, or evaluate bringing out, the firebird. i heard that a few years ago though.

just a dream.. just a dream... right now we need GM to get back on it's feet. Then we might be allowed to dream again.

There is no way this should happen until GM is as healthy as a horse. This multiple
brand marketing(ie, cavalier, cimmaron, etc) is one of the many reasons GM is in the position they are. Building way to many cars that people don't want. Having said that,
I do thnk the Firebird IS a car that many do want, but until they are healthy, I don't
think it is a viable plan.

i agree. they have too many cars that are the same thing but a different brand. look at all the vans and crossovers they have. every brand has a version like the traverse. and the cars are the same way. too many of the same. the firebird would probably cut into the camaro sales, but they should expect that to happen if they make it. they couldnt expect 100,000 sales of camaro and firebird like they had planned for the camaro to have. they should expect maybe a 60/40 split. mostly to the camaro if the firebird would look like that.

I'd expect a 95/5 split if the car looked like that, I think it's horrible looking.
