Camaro a go for 2008 production...
Re: Camaro a go for 2008 production...
I know its coming; I'm just waiting for GM to actually say it,
This is getting quite annoying to see every magazine and website claim they know everything when, in fact they just plain don’t.

Neither the 5.3 or the 6.0 are going to be Camaro engines. Nor is the 7.0 Z06 engine.
Though it's possible, I doubt a final decision has been made on Camaro. I think the fact that CEO Rick Wagoner is backing the Camaro team 100% in continuing making the car production ready without GM's "official approval" is throwing off alot of people.
Then again, with seemingly everything being thrown into Camaro (and Impala), and both progressing rapidly with upper chairman-level backing regardless, does it really matter if it's ever officially approved if Rick and Bob can get the money one step at a time (and essentially are), all the way up to production roll out?

I know we have the 6.2L and rumored supercharged 6.2L coming out and possible replacing the LS2 and LS7, but that leaves a huge gap between V6 and 430HP+ 6.2LWill GM come out with another smaller displacement? 5.5L? 5.0L?

I would still like to see the Camaro with an LS7.

Or trying to make them think the Camaro is still 4+ years down the road? Maybe they are allocating funds little by little so that one day they can pull the rug out from underneath the bean counters?
Ex. Well, we've already put in $xxxxxxx so we might as well keep going with it.
Guess Red will make it all clear when all is said and done.

Lutz said himselve until the BOD gives approval, its not official. THey're proceding as if this is a go, but there's still a chance that the BOD might see the business case and say no.
It would be foolish, therefore, to let an official announcement escape if there is still a chance the directors could kill it.
FWIW I don't see anything secretive about what's going on right now. What they've said is 100% true, they are going forward as if it is an approved project, and their waiting on BOD approval.
