Yeah, yeah, budget schmudget!!!
Obviously we want it kept down in price. But remember Scott's other "appeasing" comment the other day:
So that, along with the fact that they KNOW the car must be kept light, they've "called Jenny Craig", and they even want to keep the "F"-body designation
.
..... things are (hopefully) shaping up pretty well!!

(now if only they'd build a handful of 40th-Anniversary cars
.....)
Hey Scott, what do you think about that????????????

I was watching a video on the GM Fastlane blog the other day all the way back from January '06 where Lutz was talking about the Camaro. He talked about it likely having 19 or 20 inch wheels when in production and that the interior wouldn't be as high quality because billet is expensive.
That kind of annoyed me. If I'm going to buy the car and keep it for 10-20 years, I'd like the interior to be as high quality as possible. I'd like all that billet and stuff to be at least an option. I don't mind paying a thousand bucks more (or even up to 3000 more) for a high quality interior. It sucks to buy a car for thousands of dollars, then end up taking the stuff you don't like out and paying to have better stuff put in. I'd rather get it the way I want it the first time.
I'm glad they are making the car lighter, but I hope it isn't going to affect the quality of the interior. I'd rather drive a whale than a stripped out racer version.

I think you took Lutz' statement a bit out of context. He didn't exactly say "cheap and stripped down".
Most of the parts on the concept were hand made out of billet. That isn't common on common cars. Don't worry, I am sure they will make the interior decent for the money.

I don't think it's a case of having an interior that will last....(it will!) ..I think it's a matter of using materials that last but don't cost an arm and a leg. For example -- 24K gold is very expensive -- and it looks great -- but forget quality in terms of durability. (it's very soft and wears.....)
You are in the minority when you say you would spend $3,000 or more for a higher quality interior. And in that minority are many that SAY they will....but won't when it comes down to writing the check.
What I'd say to you is this: Go look at the interiors on our latest vehicles. They are quality. NO-- they do not rival a car that costs $60,000 -- remember -- we still have to make money......
And a lil rant: Go look at just about any Nissan.....and then look at Chevrolet.........and then you'll see that 'foreign' does not necessarily translate to 'quality' -- I was flabberghasted when I went thru the entire Nissan line......truly 'plastic city!'
I still, to this day, do not know how Nissan gets away with having a "nice interior" comments when they are done by the press. Probably the cheapest plastic I have ever felt. ALL Nissans and Infinity use the same indicator stalks. How they all of a sudden got this rep of making a quality car is beyond me!!
Chevy set the bar again with the Malibu. Now they need to explain to me why the 20k Malibu has a better interior then the 50k Corvette.

I'll probably be happy with whatever comes out, but hopefully the leather will be a nicer quality than what is in our 2002 SS. It seems a bit thin and shows stretch marks too much. The leather in the '95 Z28 seems to be thicker and more durable. I've been in a few GTOs, and their leather is practically perfect. That's what I want.
... ... ... and NON-perforated because all those little holes cause my leather cleaner to seep into the foam.
