Unhappy

I am cantakerous but not old...I think it's the MOST overatted option ever...Had it in my C5 (2001) for 5 years and never ever used it...just a waste. God I hope people are not waiting to buy the car of their dreams to play with HUD...please tell me it aint so...

Thanks tribone for getting video of the HUD. I can't wait to see it in person.

Old and cantakerous here, too -

My first long-term exposure was in a 98 Corvette -- CTF unit had it. I was driving to the NCM with about a dozen other Vettes - hit a cloudburst in Louisville KY at afternoon rush hour - and it rained heavily for at least 15 miles - -the HUD allowed me to observe all the systems of the car as well as MPH - without taking my eyes off the road.....

.......and I was sold.

(.....no one made a comment in this thread about the car being overweight! My GOD!...)

Got my 1st is my 2000 Vette and loved it. Have it in my '06 and wished the Camaro had it when I bought. Seriously thinking about trading my SS in for the HUD and switching to a Manual at the same time. Wish all cars had it as an option!

I like it in my Corvette, but didn't see much in that video to show it off if it is capable of doing anything.

I think it will be a cool option, worth waiting for? Probably not but still cool.
I remember years ago when I drove a vette at the "auto show in motion" I drove as fast as the I could and at the very end when I was parking it I noticed the HUD.

The one thing I like most about the dash in my 91 Corvette is the marriage of a digital speedo and analog everything else. To me, the HUD provides that in a somewhat different package. I've got the HUD in my 05 Comp G and I absolutely love it. I've gotten so used to having the speed displayed right in my line of vision that when I drive something else, it seems like such a hassle to keep looking down at the speedometer in the dash.

I could live without it, but I like it.

I was crushed when HUD wasn't an option on the 2010, but didn't think that it was worth waiting for. I'd made some unfounded assumptions about what would be displayed, it looks like. The video seems to be speedo only, digital or picture-of-an-analog. I'd have liked to see 1. a repeater of whatever is selected on the Driver Info Center, or 2. speedo with a tape-gauge for tach on one side and a tape gauge for coolant temp on the other.

Not sure HUD is worth a trade-in of my black, manual-tranny 2SS-RS. Maybe a convertible with HUD, though....
