Announcing the 2nd Annual, Buyers & Builders Oshawa Meet & Greet (BBOMG)

This August we will once again be hosting a meet and greet with the Assembly workers of GM Oshawa August 20th – 22nd. This event is a way for owners to say "thanks" to the people who spend their days putting our beloved cars together. Over the last year of turmoil the wonderful people of GM Oshawa have produced strong numbers of the Impala, continued to impress with the 2008 North American Car of the year the Malibu and sent shockwaves through the industry with the 2010 Camaro – building nearly 100,000 units in its first year of production! And they did all this while maintaining some of the highest build-standards in the industry .

Last year we focused on 2010 Camaros - This year we would like to see ALL YEARS in attendance! Of course we expect a big showing of Camaros and Firebirds, but we won’t turn away any GM car enthusiast.

This year we have a whole new list of activities as well as some favorites from last year’s event.

Cost – There is NO ENTRANCE FEE to attend this event; Similar to last year we will be accepting donations to help cover the costs we do have – details to follow shortly;

Group Buffet Dinner – The group buffet dinner is the only exception to the above point. The cost per person for the buffet dinner is $35 and must be paid in advance. Details will be sent via email reply to registration.

Similar to last year we are asking all those who are happy with their cars to spend a moment and write a letter to the plant workers expressing how this car has brought you joy and share stories about the car (of course we’re focusing on Oshawa-built vehicles here). FYI- for those wishing to join up with the Buffalo, NY convoy, we will be meeting beginning at 7:30 AM in the parking lot of the Seneca-Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, NY (right by the Rainbow Bridge border crossing). The convoy is scheduled to depart from there at 8:00 AM SHARP.

Make sure if you plan on being a part of "my" convoy that I have your name (real and screen name) and phone number . Send your information to:

For those interested, we will be stopping at Duty Free prior to crossing to pick up booze and smokes for those desiring either or both. Last year I brought up two cases of beer (actual Canadian Labatt Blue- not the watered down US stuff) and a bottle of Absolut. FYI, you are "allowed" one case or bottle and/or one carton of cigarettes per person, per day of stay in Canada.

That weekend is actually the weekend I arrive back home. I hope you guys enjoy this event and regret that I wont eb able to make it this year. I will however write these fine folk a letter of appreciation!

 

I didn't want to clutter up the first post with more details, but I did this little write-up to give everyone some details about various events. Not all events listed as the details are either uncertain, unknown or intentionally left out to protect the innocent

Activity Details:

Martinrea Ajax:
(650 Finley Ave, Ajax)
Martinrea International Inc. is a Tier 1 automotive supplier and supplier to other industrial sectors. In their Ajax plant they assemble the front and rear suspension modules for the 5th Gen Camaro. Last year Martinrea hosted a plant tour and BBQ lunch and we were blown away by the level of sophistication and quality built into their processes. (Not to mention the great hospitality they gave us) Everyone was so impressed that we’re going to do it again this year. So if you missed it last year you’re in for a treat. If this is your 2nd time, try to spot any changes from continuous improvement.

Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac:
(1530 Dundas Street East, Whitby)
First opened in 1968 Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac has been one of the area’s most successful dealerships. Full ground-up renovations completed in 2010 have provided Nurse with state of the art facilities which will host Saturday’s show ‘n shine and BBQ. Shine-up those rides for the afternoon event! Nurse will have their parts and accessories counter open and stocked and the Oshawa Lion’s Club will be selling raffle tickets to WIN A 2010 CAMARO!!



Meet & Greet:

This is your opportunity to meet and get to know the hard working men and women of GM Oshawa that have brought us some of the highest quality GM vehicles on the road – Including the 5th Gen Camaro. Activities designed to promote interaction between the Buyers and the Builders including:
- Blind-mans race (blind-buyer with builder co-pilot)
- Autograph tent (bring sharpies!)
- Choko Apparel clothing sale
- Lion’s Club car raffle ticket sales
- Refreshments
