RS Package on SS

Does anybody else feel like the RS package on an SS is a bit of a rip off in terms of price? All we are really getting is the HID headlights, painted roof molding, and darker taillights. Dosen't seem like much for $1200. If you are upgrading your V6, its not a bad deal, but it stinks for the SS owners.

It is a bit much, but a HID conversion kit runs upwards of several hundred dollars for a good one (and I think I'd rather have one installed from the factory) and it wouldn't have the halos. That puts it in line with all the other overpriced accessories from the dealer / factory (come on..$400 for a shifter, and I'd be willing to bet we don't see that cat-back system coming in for less than $2k).

BUT.....overpriced as the RS package is, it aint gonna stop me from getting it. Large cool factor involved here.

I keep thinking about this point, and you're right, $400 for a shifter is too much. But I tend to crack Hurst shifter ***** all the time. I wonder if for every time it cracks I could get a replacement (instead of just waiting until they get really bad).

In that case, 5 shifter ***** (say 1/year) at $32/year (Jegs) = $160 in shifter *****.

Hurst Shifter for an LS1/LT1 = $198 (Jegs)

Total - $358

Darn, still not enough. Guess I'll just install my own shifter.

I'm pretty sure the stock leather wrapped **** will fit. If it feels better, I'll just keep the stock ****.

no one said you had to buy these things. this is just a perk of having it under warranty and actually having different options from chevy. down side is you have to pay the price. but you dont have to install it and you know your covered.

i too think $360 is a lot for the Hurst, but i can't help but think about 30 years from now when someone says "ooo wow you have a 2010 SS/RS with the factory Hurst shifter??" dumb i know, but that's the way i think. i'll probaby end up not ordering the Hurst shifter and installing something later.

as far as the RS package the halos for me are a must have so to be honest i haven't thought of the actual cost of them. i'd probably be willing to pay as much as $2k. i would just cut out other options and overpay for the RS package
