Drove my auto today, been a while...
I had to drive my automatic truck today and god did it feel weird. But the thing i don't understand about it was that it's a 2002 V6 Nissan Frontier and it felt zippier than my z28...theories?
. I think the power characteristics of the torquey inline-6 we're more suited to the taller gearing it came with stock. Or else the shorter gearing I put in hid the acceleration "pull" more. It felt very similair to driving my auto formula back to back with the 6-speed Z.......things that make you go hmmm
theory 1: there is a fat chick hiding in your car. theory 2: you need to spend more time on the back roads learning how to drive a manual performance car in a performance manner
most people tend to LUG through the gears, being one or two gears higher gear than they need to be for optimal performance at a given speed, and shifting way too early. get the car up into its power band. generally you can't use half the power potential of a performance car in most driving situations, safely. so you get in the habit of shifting early and lugging it around. particualy bad with an LT1 and easy to do cause it will lug around at any speed due to so much low end torque. if you are "getting on it" in a manual you shouldn't see anything south of 4k rpm in any gear other than 1st. end of theories.
